What is a huge time hoarder for your business? Content strategy.
While it’s super crucial to attract customers and leads, writing blog posts, social media updates, email newsletters, and videos will leave you drowning in work!
How do you create content without letting it take over your week? You need to stretch your content to the Max!
Stretching your content means you work smarter, not harder.
Your blog content isn’t limited to your blog, but it can do multiple things for you. Think of it as taking an old pair of jeans and turning it into five denim handbags.
In the last six years, I have specialized in content marketing and found a ton of ways you can repurpose blog content to save a huge chunk of time.
First off, why is content so important for your business?
This is how you tell your brand story. Your prospective customers want to know who you are.
You want to educate your readers, be engaging, and provide value to grab their attention. Your ideal customer wants to know if you can help solve a challenge and how you are going to do it.
Why do you need a blog for your business?
It drives traffic to your website! Plus, you own your website. You don’t own Facebook or Instagram.
If something on those social media platforms happens to affect your social media content – like an algorithm change – your blog is still up and running.
Plus, a blog is necessary to grow your email list. You want to keep sharing relevant content for your email list subscribers. People on your email list can easily turn into customers.
There are two key ways to start making the most of your blog content – content upgrade and blog post series.
Content Upgrade: A content upgrade can be a checklist, cheat sheet, eBook, guide, or assessment. It’s freebie content that can add more value to your blog post.
This is a great opportunity to develop compelling content that will resonate with your readers.
Blog Post Series: Your content upgrade can be added to your blog post series – a series of blog posts on the same topic. A content series is an awesome way to split up a lot of valuable content to create more blog posts.
For example, if you’re an interior designer, you can do a blog series on kitchen design. You can add a content upgrade on different backsplash designs to every post in your series to save time on developing a different content upgrade for each post.
Now that we’ve reviewed why a blog is the foundation for your booming content strategy, here are some great ways to repurpose your blog content and get more bang for your buck!
#1 HOW TO REPURPOSE BLOG CONTENT: USE FACEBOOK LIVE
Use your blog content to create a Facebook or Instagram Live video. Talk through all of the points found in your blog post in your video. Easy peasy! A blog is a great outline to follow so you don’t feel stumped on what you can talk about in your Live videos.
And, don’t think that turning your blog posts into videos is too repetitive. People enjoy consuming content in written or video format. Plus, Live videos give people a chance to comment and ask questions on your topic.
#2 HOW TO REPURPOSE BLOG CONTENT: CREATE INSTAGRAM POSTS
It’s not just for posting pretty pictures. Instagram is an awesome place to share beautiful visual content with helpful captions. Infuse pieces of your blog content into your Instagram posts.
Simply take an engaging tip or interesting statistic and add it to your Instagram post.
Be sure to add a visually appealing background to your content blurb and link to your blog post. This is a great way to save time on coming up with new ideas for Instagram posts.
#3 HOW TO REPURPOSE BLOG CONTENT: SET UP A WEBINAR
Webinars are awesome ways to convert people into HOT leads or even customers.
Create an outline of your blog post and add in a catchy introduction at the beginning and a pitch at the end to frame your webinar. Include the main points and sub-points that are covered in your blog post and talk about them in your webinar.
Your sub-points can be turned into different slides for your webinar presentation.
Or you can even turn your blog posts into an audio format to make a podcast for iTunes. Some people enjoy written content while other people prefer audio and video content. You want to touch on both types of content to reach a bigger audience.
#4 HOW TO REPURPOSE BLOG CONTENT: TURN FREE CONTENT INTO PAID E-COURSES
This is brilliant. Repurpose some of your free content for a paid e-course. It is great starting ground as you add more background information to your paid course. Using some of your blog post content gives you clear direction so you aren’t left struggling to find direction for your e-course.
#5 HOW TO REPURPOSE BLOG CONTENT: CREATE FACEBOOK POSTS
What is the best way to use Facebook for your business? Set up Facebook groups, advertising, native video content, and content-rich posts. Your blog can help you add engaging, enjoyable Facebook content. You can also take some of your top posts and create ads for them on Facebook.
#6 HOW TO REPURPOSE BLOG CONTENT: GET YOUR TWEETS AND SNAPCHAT GOING!
Twitter is a great place to repurpose one blog post with several tweets spread throughout the week. You can take a short tip or quote from your post and turn it into a tweet that is compelling and directs people to read your blog post.
Snapchat may seem less familiar for posting blog content, but this is definitely a way to share a mix of personal, behind-the-scenes content with short, relevant tips. Pull some main points from your blog posts and share one tip each day on Snapchat.
#7 HOW TO REPURPOSE BLOG CONTENT: POST TO PINTEREST
The images you create for your blog post can also be used on Pinterest. You want to create compelling, beautiful images that look great on different platforms.
Once you create an image for your blog, go to your phone and pull it up. Does the image look good on your phone? Is the text too small? Images and text can look very different on different platforms. Make sure it looks great on your phone!
#8 HOW TO REPURPOSE BLOG CONTENT: CREATE YOUTUBE VIDEOS
Similar to using your blog post content to create webinars and Live videos, you can repurpose your blog content to create YouTube videos. Pull out the main points from your blog post and present them in your video.
This doesn’t need to be a huge production. You just need to create genuine value for your viewers. You can even use your phone and a tripod to set up your video. Be authentic and relatable with sharing your content and have fun with it!
#9 HOW TO REPURPOSE BLOG CONTENT: SEND IT OUT TO YOUR EMAIL LIST
Writing email content on top of everything else is a huge time sucker. You have to come up with ideas and write out even more articles to direct your email subscribers to your website.
Well, the best way to save time on developing your email newsletter is to repurpose your blog content!
Just because someone is on your email list, it doesn’t mean that they have been following your blog posts, listening to your podcasts, or watching your videos.
Your email subscribers, leads, and readers have their own preference on how they receive content. You can cover all bases by repurposing your content on different platforms.
WRITE, POST, REPEAT!
Save yourself some time! Stretching your content is an amazing time saver. Start by reviewing your top blog posts and decide which posts have awesome content for Live videos, social media posts, podcasts, and email newsletters.
You are going to feel an amazing lift to get rid of that overwhelming load of content and you will reach a wider audience by including different platforms.
Always keep in mind when creating your blog posts, is this a topic that I can easily repurpose for my content strategy needs?
Write, post, repeat!
