8 Ways To Quickly Double Your Email Marketing List

 

Let’s talk about why owning your own email list is so fricken important.

  1.  It allows you to gauge what types of content are resonating with your ideal customer. What topics are they most interested in? What types of lead magnets do they download more of (ebook, step-by-step guides, checklists)?
  2. The people on your email list are more likely to purchase your product. An email subscriber is more likely to purchase your product than someone who just clicked a Facebook advertisement. This is because they know you, and you have been with them every step of the way.

IMPORTANT (you’ll want to read this): For those of you who have a large email list, you need to keep in mind that 22.5% of your email list decays every single year. This is because people change email addresses or opt-out of your email communications. So, it is important that you are constantly cleaning-up and growing your list.

 

 

Now, let’s jump into the heart of this blog post. Here are my top 8 tips for quickly growing a profitable email list.

TIP 1: HAVE EMAIL SIGN-UP FORMS + CALL-TO-ACTIONS ON YOUR SITE.

Your homepage is prime website real estate. So, feature your email opt-in somewhere on this page. I’ve set my email opt-in up as a feature box along the top of my homepage, but you can also embed a form or use a call-to-action button.
Another prime spot is the footer of your blog posts. Add an email sign-up box there and you could quickly triple your email subscriptions, just like Melyssa Griffin did.

TIP 2: INCORPORATE LEAD MAGNET CONTENT ON YOUR BLOG

A lead magnet is a kick-ass piece of content that you put into your blog post as an upgrade. For example, see the 5 Emails Your Subscribers Love Getting From You Cheatsheet download that I used as a lead magnet on this blog post.

Your lead magnet could be an ebook download, ultimate step-by-step guide, checklist…. Just make sure it’s juicy content that educates your customers and addresses their pain points.

TIP 3: CREATE FACEBOOK ADS THAT HIGHLIGHT YOUR CONTENT

Facebook Ads are a quick way to double your email list. Do you have a blog post and lead magnet that is getting good engagement and downloads? Then it’s time to make a Facebook ad for it.

Target people who have visited your site in the past, or people who like your Facebook page, or people who have interests similar to your ideal customer… When they click on your ad, send them to that rockin’ content.

TIP 4: HOST A MASTERCLASS WEBINAR

Webinars are great for MANY reasons. One of these reasons is that they can double your email list, fast. Host a masterclass webinar around a compelling topic and have people register via their email address. Cha-ching!

TIP 5: HUSTLE AT OFFLINE EVENTS

Do you host or attend conferences and offline events throughout the year? Use these events as a chance to snag some email addresses.

Bright Idea Alert: Digitize the process by having people submit the opt-in form at your website via a tablet or mobile device. This way you’re not entering in their email addresses by hand afterwards.

TIP 6: SPONSOR AN ONLINE GIVEAWAY

Hosting a giveaway is another way to collect email addresses.

In the past, I have created simple Facebook giveaways that requires people to provide their email address and answer 1-2 questions. These questions usually help me come up with content or product development.

There are several softwares that make it easy for you to run giveaways on Facebook. If you need a software, try LeadPages or OfferPop.

Proceed with caution: Giveaways can help multiply your email list fast, but your entrants may not be quality subscribers. If you decided to do giveaways, err on the side of caution and only host one every couple months.

TIP 7: HARNESS THE POWER OF PINTEREST

Pinterest is another marketing powerhouse that companies can’t ignore. Don’t believe me? Check out these Pinterest stats on Jeff Bullas’s site.

Your ideal customer is probably using Pinterest as a search engine, so go and meet them there. Create beautiful images highlighting your content and pin them. Stat.

TIP 8: PROMOTE YOURSELF ON VIDEO

Do you produce YouTube Videos, Facebook Live, or Periscope events?

It’s okay to brag about yourself on these videos. Highlight related content that’s on your website and verbally remind people to sign-up to receive your emails.

People need to hear things multiple times before they will take action. If you feel like a repeating broken record, don’t worry about it. You’re awesome.
